Rila and Pirin are the highest mountains of Bulgaria, famous for their alpine terrain and glacier lakes. Both protected by National Parks. Each of those mountains with an altitude of almost 3000m are excellent choices for your next summer adventure. The Rila Mountains is famous for its beautiful granite peaks, Malyovitsa and Musala, and more than 150 glacial lakes. Pirin offers a unique alpine environment, home to some of the oldest evergreen forests and a large variety of flowers, including the emblematic edelweiss. Description
Day 1: Sofia Airport – Sofia
Transfer from the airport to the hotel in the centre of the city. Visit the historical part of Sofia.
Day 2: Sofia - Mount Musala - Govedartsi
Transfer from Govedartsi to Borovets ski resort (1350 m, 0.5 hours drive). We take the gondola lift up to about 2363 m, from where a couple of hours trek takes us to Ledenoto Ezero Chalet at 2700 m. From here starts the last part and steepest part to the peak. Retrace back to the gondola and transfer to the guest house in Govedartsi.

Day 3: Govedartsi Village - Malyovitsa peak - Govedartsi Village
Ascend to Malyovitsa Peak 2729 m (the symbol of Bulgarian alpinism). Descend via Urdini Lakes and Urdina river back to Malyovitsa ski centre. Transfer to Govedartsi village - 20 minutes.

Day 4: Govedartsi Village - 7 Rila Lakes and Skakavitsa Waterfall - Sapareva Banya
Transfer from Govedartsi Village to Pionerska Hut. Hike to Skakavitsa Waterfall and up to the Kidney lake. Hike around the 7 Rila Lakes and back to Pionerska Hut. Transfer to Sapareva Banya. Accommodation in a family hotel. Visit of an outdoor hot mineral pool.

Day 5: Sapareva Banya - Rila Monastery - Bansko
Transfer to Rila monastery. Visit of the monastery and the cave of the monk, who established the monastery in the 10th century . Lunch in the area with trout from the local fish farms. Transfer to Bansko and accommodation in a family hotel in Bansko.
Day 6: Bansko - Vihren Peak - Bansko
Transfer to Banderitsa Hut. The Loop hike starts with ascending to Vihren Peak 2914 m (the highest in Pirin). Descend to Vihren Hut and then to Banderitsa Hut. Transfer to Bansko - 45 min.
Distance 7km Ascent 1000m Descent 1000m
Day 7: Bansko - Polezhan Peak - Bansko
Transfer from Bansko to Gotse Delchev Hut. Chairlift to Bezbog Hut (2250 m). Hike to Polezhan Peak (2850 m). Hike back to the chairlift. Transfer to Bansko. Accommodation in Bansko. Traditional dinner in Gorno Draglishte Village.
Distance 7km Ascent 600m Descent 600m
Day 8: Bansko - Sofia
Transfer to Sofia. Accommodation in a hotel in the center. Final dinner.
